Islamabad: Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has reportedly expanded her role in the party by making changes in PTI’s legal matters and the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF).
Sources revealed that Bushra Bibi sought a list of lawyers associated with PTI across the country. Advocate Qazi Anwar and Mashal Yousafzai have been instructed to report to her on legal matters.
Additionally, Bushra Bibi has reportedly bound Advocate Anwar to consult with her before taking any actions regarding cases filed against PTI leadership. She also prohibited the party’s lawyers from conveying messages to PTI founder Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August 2024.
Earlier this week, Bushra Bibi resolved internal disputes within the party’s legal team and informed the jailed Imran Khan about it. Furthermore, the final consultation on changes in the ILF’s KP chapter leadership was reportedly done with her.
Meanwhile, PTI’s firebrand leader Sher Afzal Marwat called for an audit of the lawyers’ fees paid for the party’s legal cases. He claimed some lawyers had received payments that were higher than what was necessary.
Marwat mentioned that the cases did not require high-profile legal expertise, and in his view, the fees paid were excessive. He emphasized his own contribution, stating that he had represented PTI’s founder in 74 cases without accepting any payment.
Last month, some PTI leaders expressed concerns over the growing interference of Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, in party affairs. Senior leaders described the increasing harsh behavior from both women towards party members.
