Urfan and Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, were sentenced to life imprisonment last month for subjecting Sara to years of cruel abuse and “horrific torture” leading to her death.
The court revealed that Sara endured “unbearable suffering, anxiety, and fear” due to repeated beatings, burns, bites, and physical restraint at their home in Woking, Surrey. Urfan was given a minimum sentence of 40 years, while Batool was sentenced to 33 years. Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, was also convicted and sentenced to 16 years.
In a televised sentencing, Justice Cavanagh described Sara’s death as the culmination of years of neglect and torture, particularly at the hands of her father.
