The suspect behind the Tesla Cybertruck explosion outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas has been identified as US Army soldier Matthew Livelsberger. Police confirmed that Livelsberger acted alone and later took his own life.
According to the police, Livelsberger shot himself in the mouth before explosives in the truck detonated. He was inside the Cybertruck when gasoline canisters and fireworks exploded, causing the blast.
Police also revealed that Livelsberger had legally purchased two semi-automatic handguns on December 30. He was found with military identification, a passport, an iPhone, and credit cards.
Livelsberger, assigned to the Army Special Operations Command, had completed five combat deployments to Afghanistan and had received a Bronze Star and Army Commendation for valor.
Authorities stated that there was no definitive link found between the explosion in Las Vegas and the truck attack in New Orleans earlier on the same day, but investigations are ongoing.
