The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has termed the report of 100 children’s deaths in Kurram as false. Government spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif stated that all necessary medicines are being delivered to Kurram on a daily basis and appealed to the public not to believe such baseless information.
He further added that all essential commodities are being provided to the residents of Kurram on a priority basis.
It is noteworthy that over 130 people have lost their lives in recent tribal clashes in different areas of Kurram, with reports of over 100 children’s deaths emerging. In light of the tense situation, all major and minor roads leading to the district remain closed.
Upper Kurram Tehsil Chairman Agha Muzamil Hussain stated on Wednesday that the closure of roads has left citizens deprived of food and medical treatment. He claimed that more than 100 children have died due to lack of treatment, with an equal number succumbing to cancer and other diseases.
Local government representatives have warned that if the roads in Kurram are not reopened immediately, they will resign from their positions.
This situation has persisted for nearly a month and a half, with the closure of roads including the Afghan border and the Peshawar-Parachinar Road, leaving the region inaccessible by vehicles.
