Israel’s invasion of the Gaza Strip, which began following Hamas’ attack on October 7, 2023, has now surpassed 14 months. During this period, top Hamas leaders, including Ismail Haniyeh, were assassinated in Tehran, and Yahya Sinwar was killed in southern Gaza.
Israel has also targeted Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and reports indicate a potential successor. The Israeli strategy now includes carving out “buffer zones,” and Israel has stated that it intends to continue its operations until Donald Trump takes office in January 2025.
