Lahore: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed its crucial meeting regarding the 2025 Champions Trophy, which was scheduled to take place today (Saturday). Sources confirmed that the meeting was deferred due to the lack of response from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to the demands raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the venue of the much-anticipated tournament.
In recent developments, Pakistan and India reached an agreement where both countries will play their ICC tournament matches at neutral venues. This arrangement will apply to all ICC events until 2027, with India’s matches to be held in Dubai, while Pakistan’s matches in the 2026 T20 World Cup will also be at neutral venues.
This agreement was expected to lead to the announcement of the event’s schedule within 48 hours, but the ICC has had to delay the meeting due to the ongoing lack of communication from the BCCI. According to sources from the Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan stands to earn $6 million from hosting the event, in addition to extra revenue from ticket sales and hospitality.
