Dallas, Texas – Under the banner of “Stand for Pakistan,” the Pakistani American community has announced a peaceful protest on December 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Dallas Grassy Knoll, 114 Elm Street, Dallas, Texas, against the alleged interference by U.S. Congress and Senate members in Pakistan’s internal affairs. The protest aims to promote an accurate and balanced understanding of Pakistan’s political situation and call for mutual respect between the two nations.
According to the organizers, Pakistan is the world’s fifth most populous country and home to the sixth-largest military, with significant achievements in democratic development and peaceful transfers of power through elections. However, recent actions by U.S. Congressional and Senate members, perceived as interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs, have raised serious concerns among the Pakistani American community.
Abid Malik, President of Pakistan Muslim League Azad Kashmir Overseas, stated: “There are real human rights crises in places like Palestine, Kashmir, and Rohingya, where state oppression is evident. Presenting Pakistan’s internal political disputes as human rights violations is misleading.”
Imtiaz Pirzada, Senior Vice President of Pakistan Peoples USA, said: “Pakistan, governed under a unanimously approved constitution and supported by democratic institutions, is often underestimated despite its immense potential. Its strategic location near India, China, Afghanistan, and Iran gives it critical importance in global politics.”
He further noted that security challenges stemming from Afghanistan and internal political differences have complicated Pakistan’s democratic process, but the country’s independent judiciary, active media, and functioning parliament reflect its democratic resilience.
Sabeel Abbasi, President of Pakistan Muslim League Texas, emphasized: “The U.S. Congress and Senate need to be informed about Pakistan’s true situation, as misinformation spread by an extremist and violent political party has distorted the narrative.”
Iftikhar Khan, a local social leader, warned: “The danger of interfering in a country’s internal political matters lies in the difficulty of distinguishing between reality and fabricated narratives.”
The leaders urged media representatives to provide live coverage of the protest and participate in discussions with the organizers. They also appealed to all patriotic Pakistani Americans to join the protest and show their love and support for their homeland.
Virtual Press Conference:
Following the protest, a virtual press conference titled “Stand with Pakistan”will be held at 5:00 PM (CST), where representatives of the Pakistani community will share their views and concerns.
