Baghdad: Hundreds of fighters from Iraqi militias crossed into Syria on Sunday night to assist the Syrian government in reclaiming Aleppo, which was seized by anti-government forces last week. Over 300 fighters, mainly from the Badr and Nujabaa groups, entered Syria through informal routes to avoid aerial strikes. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that Iran would provide full support to Syria. Meanwhile, Russian airstrikes intensified in the northwest, targeting anti-Assad fighters.
Additionally, the United States and the United Arab Emirates have explored ways to distance Bashar al-Assad from Iran by offering to lift sanctions if he curtails weapon routes to Hezbollah. This has reignited the conflict, leading to further instability in the region.
