Imran Khan, the incarcerated leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has instructed the party to bring the issue of the recent crackdown on protesters in Islamabad to parliament. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, addressing the media after visiting Khan at Adiala Jail, stated that the PTI founder expressed deep sorrow over the deaths during the “final call” protest and ordered PTI lawmakers to raise the issue in both the National Assembly and the Senate.
The protests, which began on November 24, were abruptly suspended on November 27. During this period, nearly 1,000 PTI supporters were arrested, and tragic clashes led to the loss of at least 12 PTI workers, along with police and Rangers personnel. Despite the government’s denial of law enforcement firing at the protesters, Gohar emphasized that Khan condemned the use of force and called for unity within PTI ranks.
Gohar further stated that the PTI would continue its struggle despite facing restrictions and clarified that Khan was in good health. He also dismissed rumors about potential negotiations with the government, signaling that the party would not relent in its political battle.
