The United Nations marked its International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, a solemn occasion reflecting the ongoing humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Despite decades of UN resolutions advocating for a peaceful two-state solution, the region remains engulfed in intense conflict, resulting in devastating consequences for its population.
The current toll of the conflict paints a grim picture: over 42,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, with women and children accounting for more than half of the casualties. Israeli forces have reportedly unleashed thousands of tons of explosive materials, inflicting significant damage on Gaza’s infrastructure.
According to global media sources, approximately 150,000 homes have been severely damaged. The escalation has created widespread shortages of food, medical supplies, and other essential resources, further exacerbating the already dire conditions for Gaza’s residents.
The ongoing violence has also claimed the lives of numerous professionals, including doctors, journalists, and legal experts, as the human toll continues to rise. International observers and organizations have urgently called for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire to prevent further loss of life and suffering.
Pakistan, as a consistent advocate for Palestinian rights, has shown strong support for the UN’s resolutions. Both the Prime Minister and Army Chief have publicly voiced their commitment to an independent Palestinian state and have sent humanitarian aid to the region to help alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The international community is being urged to recognize the urgent need for a resolution that ensures peace, security, and dignity for all people involved, and to work towards a sustainable solution that can end the ongoing conflict.
