Concerns Over National Stability
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Friday voiced her concerns about potential unrest in the country, linking it to recent events involving a friendly nation. Speaking in Taunsa, she expressed surprise over a video she had seen, criticizing a “housewife” for making derogatory remarks about a friendly nation. She warned of a dangerous agenda being pursued by her political opponents.
Criticism of Political Rivals
CM Maryam accused her opponents of instigating protests at critical moments when the country is on the brink of progress. She specifically called out the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, suggesting that Punjab was being targeted frequently from across provincial borders. She emphasized her ability to safeguard Punjab, stating, “I know very well how to ensure the protection of Punjab.”
Economic Optimism Under PML-N
Highlighting economic improvements, CM Maryam noted that the stock market was consistently setting new records. She added that inflation had significantly decreased, bringing relief to the masses, which, in her view, explained why opposition calls for protests were falling flat.
She attributed the country’s improving economic outlook to the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). “In our tenure, Pakistan has seen prosperity, reduced inflation, and avoided default despite the challenges,” she said.
Praise for PM Shehbaz Sharif
CM Maryam lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for implementing Nawaz Sharif’s vision to improve the lives of the people. She noted tangible benefits, such as the reduction in the price of roti from Rs20 to Rs12 and a drop in power tariffs due to Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts. Additionally, she credited the PML-N government for boosting remittances during its tenure.
Rebuke Against PTI’s Politics
In a sharp critique of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), CM Maryam accused the party of using foul language and promoting unrest. Speaking to the media in London, she condemned recent incidents involving Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, asserting that such behavior reflected PTI’s divisive politics.
She declared that those breaking the law would face justice, emphasizing that PTI’s sole focus seemed to be on staging protests. “Their wrongdoings will inevitably lead to arrests,” she remarked.
A Call for Unity and Progress
Concluding her remarks, CM Maryam urged for a focus on development and stability, stressing that the nation’s prosperity was a collective responsibility. She reiterated her resolve to counter any attempts at destabilization while working for the betterment of Punjab a
