Karachi Hosts Iconic Trophy Tour
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trophy completed its three-day tour of Karachi, showcasing its presence at iconic landmarks, colleges, and a public exhibition at Port Grand. The tour began on Wednesday at Burns Road and concluded with a grand display at Port Grand on Friday.
Visits to Landmarks and Educational Institutions
During its final day in Karachi, the trophy visited several notable locations, including the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) headquarters, Mohatta Palace, and the National Stadium. It also made stops at various colleges, where it was warmly received by students and faculty.
Former Champions Trophy-winning captain Sarfaraz Ahmed joined the tour at a local college, sharing memories of Pakistan’s triumphant 2017 campaign. “It was a historic achievement for us, and the moments from that event will always be cherished,” Sarfaraz told an enthusiastic crowd of students.
Warm Reception at KMC Headquarters
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab welcomed the trophy at the KMC headquarters, describing its arrival as a moment of pride for the city. He expressed hope that Karachi would host matches during the tournament, assuring full support from the city administration.
“Cricket has the power to unite us,” said Wahab. “We hope the Champions Trophy will bring fans together and provide a platform for Pakistan to showcase its cricketing strength once again.”
He also called for keeping sports and politics separate, urging the Indian government to allow its team to participate in the tournament in Pakistan.
Celebrations at National Stadium
Sindh Sports Minister Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar and Sports Secretary Abdul Aleem Lashari welcomed the trophy at the National Stadium. Mahar highlighted Pakistan’s readiness to host the Champions Trophy, emphasizing the unmatched hospitality awaiting international teams.
Cultural Significance Highlighted
The trophy tour included a stop at Mohatta Palace, where Sindh Culture Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah posed with the silverware. A photoshoot at the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum further underscored the cultural and historical significance of the visit.

The tour concluded with a vibrant public display at Port Grand. Cricket fans gathered in large numbers to see the iconic trophy and capture memorable moments with it.
Next Stops on the Trophy Tour
The Champions Trophy, which arrived in Karachi ahead of schedule, is now set to travel to Lahore. While no activities are currently planned there, the trophy’s next international destination will be Afghanistan, as per the tour schedule.
