During his official visit to Qatar on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Qatari investors to investigate Pakistan’s various economic sectors in an effort to attract additional investment.
The prime minister is in Doha on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatari emir, after securing $600 million in investment pledges during his trip to Saudi Arabia.
PM Shehbaz met with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani today for an “extensive and productive meeting,” according to a press release from the Press Information Department (PID).
“extended an invitation to Qatari investors to explore Pakistan’s diverse economic sectors, including agriculture, information technology, and tourism,” reads the prime minister’s statement.
He emphasized the government’s determination to create a “conducive environment for foreign investors” and talked about potential incentives to make it easier for them to enter the Pakistani market.
The PID statement went on to say that the two prime ministers also talked about “avenues to further strengthen bilateral relations, particularly focusing on enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, and cultural exchange.”
In addition, PM Shehbaz thanked Qatar for its ongoing support in a variety of areas and acknowledged Qatar’s “contributions to Pakistan’s economic growth.”
The premier reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic ties and emphasized the possibility of expanded collaboration.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude to PM Mohammed for hosting a “large number of Pakistani diaspora who serve as a human bridge between the two brotherly countries.”
According to the press release, in return, the Qatari premier emphasized Pakistan’s “strategic importance” in the region and expressed his “enthusiasm” to strengthen ties with the nation in accordance with Qatar’s vision for economic growth and regional stability.
It showed that the two leaders agreed that high-level exchanges should continue to help people understand each other, encourage cooperation, and find new growth areas.
According to the statement, the premiers also discussed regional and global issues, in which they emphasized the need for “peaceful solutions and mutual cooperation to address challenges.”
PM Shehbaz, according to PID, appreciated Qatar’s stance on Gaza and its efforts to promote peace in the region, particularly its efforts to alleviate the “suffering of the people of Gaza,” PID says.
Additionally, PM Mohammed demonstrated his determination to collaborate with Pakistan to promote regional peace, particularly in Afghanistan.
PM Shehbaz emphasized that the visit would “further solidify the strong bonds of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation” between Pakistan and Qatar, expressing his “deep appreciation” to the Qatari premier and emir for their warm welcome.
