According to a statement released on Thursday by the Pakistan Navy, the Pakistan Navy Ship Zulfiquar rescued an Iranian fishing show with 23 fishermen aboard while it was on a regional maritime security patrol.
PNS Zulfiquar responded to the distress call from Fishing Dhow AL Muhammadi, which was stranded in the Gulf of Aden near Yemen, according to a statement from the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) Pakistan Navy.
According to the statement, “the fishing dhow reported a seriously injured crew member as well as a defective engine and requested for necessary assistance” after communicating with the Pakistan Navy Ship.
The injured fisherman, who had suffered a severe hand injury while repairing the boat’s engine, received first aid from PNS Zulfiquar’s medical and technical teams.
Two more debilitated team individuals were inspected and given clinical help. The statement added that the ship’s crew also fixed the boat’s engine.
The Pakistan Navy regularly conducts regional maritime security patrols in accordance with its national goal of maintaining peace and stability in the region. PN ships also assist ships operating at sea while deployed.
According to the statement, “The humanitarian assistance operation demonstrates Pakistan Navy’s unwavering resolve toward the safety and security of seafarers plying in the Indian Ocean region.”
Eight Iranian fishermen who were trapped in the open sea after their boat caught fire had also been rescued earlier this year by the Pakistan Navy. Reza Amiri Moghadam, Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, had expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s assistance.
“I might want to sincerely see the value in Pakistan Naval force for answering effectively and honestly to the misery call of help from an Iranian fishing boat trapped in a wild fire in the vast ocean and securely safeguarding eight Iranian anglers,” Moghadam had said in an explanation.
“The Pakistan Navy’s vigilance and professionalism in carrying out this time’s rescue and humanitarian assistance operations in international waters demonstrates their close cooperation with Iran and Pakistan. Iran and Pakistan have consistently stayed resolved to remain by one another in difficult situations during the historical backdrop of the two selfless nations,” he added.
