The crime-thriller series Mirzapur is being adapted for the big screen by Mazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment. Variety reported that the move is one of the first times a streaming hit will move from a digital platform to cinemas in India.
The original creator of the series, Puneet Krishna, will direct the Mirzapur movie, which will be released in 2026. Gurmmeet Singh will also co-direct. As the show’s director of 17 episodes, Singh will bring his extensive knowledge of the show’s world to the big screen.
After an eight-week theatrical run, the film will be available for streaming on Prime Video in 240 countries, giving Pakistani viewers a chance to see it much later.
Excel Movies and the cast posted a trailer for the movie to Instagram. It sees Pankajh Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu discuss facing a greater challenge. Fazal, in the personality of Guddu Bhaiya, repeats that facing challenges is his USP, while Divyenndu, as Munna — who passes on toward the finish of season 2 — reminds everybody, “Murmur kehte thay na, murmur amar hain [we told you, we are immortal].”
The task follows the record-breaking progress of Mirzapur season 3 on Prime Video, with a fourth season arranged after the film’s delivery. The fact that Abhishek Banerjee reprises his role as the Compounder, Tripathi reprises his role as Kaleen Bhaiya, Fazal reprises his role as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu reprises her role as Munna Tripathi.
The film makes it clear that it will go deeper into the world of power struggles and crime in northern India, which is what made the show so popular.
