Pakistan: Jal’s lead guitarist, ohar Mumtaz, came clean about his relationships with singers Atif Aslam and Farhan Saeed, both of whom started their musical careers with Mumtaz.
Controversies involving Farhan Saeed Mumtaz addressed controversies involving his former bandmates in a recent appearance on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast Excuse Me, stating that despite past disagreements, he still had “equal respect for both of them.” Mumtaz said in an old interview that he should never have said what he did about Saeed, but he also said that he and Saeed still met.
He clarified that he was asked about the band’s progress after Aslam left, and that Saeed had to work on his voice compared to the band’s first lead singer. However, he claimed that the podcast had been edited to make it appear as though he was making the claim that Saeed was not as good a vocalist as Aslam.
Even though I cautioned them against doing so due to our good relationships, Individuals misinterpret things on computerized [media]. I have tried to concentrate on my work and avoided making comments about other people. However, no one can be saved from this in the age of social media.
Mumtaz said that he later spoke with Saeed and said that he told him that the interview was not true. He also said that Saeed understood and that the conversation was about their problems from 2004 to 2007, but that people thought they had problems now.
Relations with Atif Aslam The frontman of Jal admitted that the difficulties he faced following Aslam’s departure from the band put a lot of pressure on him.
When you do something unselfishly for someone, things don’t go as planned. Additionally, your emotional state, lack of maturity, and desire to reaffirm your identity are all signs of our age. During tours back then, I used to constantly plan what to do next.
He stated that he personally struggled following his disagreement with Aslam. However, rather than discussing other people, he believed in emotional self-control.
“People love us, and we need to inspire them rather than tell them what happened. Our song “Adaat” is a big hit. He said, “I suppressed a lot of it so that fans and people who want to make music and bands wouldn’t be disappointed,” adding that being in a band is typically a harsh reality. “A lot happened, but I suppressed it.”
Mumtaz stated that he preferred to demonstrate himself through his work rather than speak negatively about anyone.
The musician, on the other hand, insisted that Aslam’s interview with Samina Peerzada in which he criticized Mumtaz had upset him.
When I first heard it, I was very hurt. While she asked me the same questions when I appeared on that show as well, I did not discuss it. According to Mumtaz, Aslam later came to him and apologized, claiming that Peerzada had asked leading questions.
“I requested that he refrain from talking negatively about my family, but I told him that he could. When he realized he shouldn’t have spoken so much, the matter was resolved the same day.” He went on to say that he and Aslam were both older now, and he wanted to spread positivity because music fans still tag them in social media posts.
Songwriting for Jal When asked if he wrote all of Jal’s songs or if Saeed helped, Mumtaz said that he always encouraged his bandmates to write anything they could because it was a “beautiful process.” Saeed also wrote a few songs.
When you’re working on something, you stay happy and content. They tried, no doubt, but I had a lot on my plate. I wrote nearly nine songs for each album because I enjoyed doing so and didn’t want to be burdened. All of the tracks had to be laid down and I had to tell them to sing and play the bass.
Even though Mumtaz wrote all of the songs, it wasn’t Saeed’s job as the vocalist to help write them. He added that the singer did have a say in whether the tunes should be changed, which would benefit the process.
“I didn’t know how to write songs, so there was no pre-chorus or chorus in “Adaat.” The song came to life thanks to Atif’s vocals and contributions. The band gets its flavor from the individual contributions of each member.
Regardless of who wrote the band’s previous hits, the guitarist said he realized that new music was the only way to move forward. If you release new music, fans will understand, so we decided to stay in the studio for two months together.
Mumtaz stated that reuniting with Saeed would be the only way to produce additional music; otherwise, neither Jal nor Saeed would require that window to remain open.
