RAWALPINDI: Adiala jail has been lifted, allowing all meetings to resume on a regular schedule.
Following a potential terrorist threat and subsequent drills at the facility, increased security concerns prompted the implementation of the restriction, which was initially imposed on October 4.
The restriction on all visits to Imran Khan, founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), had been extended until October 25 by authorities at Adiala jail.
According to orders issued by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), this is the same facility where Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi was held until she was granted bail two days ago.
According to sources, all prisoners, including high-profile individuals, may once more receive visitors now that the ban has been lifted.
Because party leaders were unable to meet with Khan, whom they consult on political matters, the visitation ban had sparked discontent within the PTI.
The PTI leadership finally received permission to meet with the former prime minister last week after the IHC intervened and prevented them from doing so for more than three weeks.
In addition to the meeting ban, the party leadership expressed concern about Khan’s health and wanted to have him examined by a doctor. After overcoming some obstacles, this request was also granted.
