Sheheryar Cheema, the veteran Pakistani actor’s son, has spoken out to dispel rumors that his father, Shafqat Cheema, is ill and that he is in a coma.
Sheheryar confirmed that his father’s condition was never that serious, contrary to reports that the Punjabi film star, who has earned the moniker “Pakistan’s favorite villain,” suffered a stroke and fell into a coma.
“He only had pneumonia, and Alhamdulillah, he is feeling well, and he is now home,” he told Images.
A video of Sheheryar had previously gone viral on the internet, and in it, he called reports about his father’s stroke and coma “fake news.” He added that due to pneumonia, Shafqat was temporarily admitted to the Shalimar Hospital in Lahore but has since been released.
A very unsettling picture was created by a number of false news reports. According to one report, the well-known Punjabi actor was in a coma after being admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) due to a blood clot in his brain. In addition, they said that his family had asked for prayers for his recovery.
Fans took to social media to express both worry and relief due to the contradictory information. Some individuals criticized the media for disseminating unverified information and called for more cautious reporting, particularly when senior actors were involved.
Shafqat Cheema is well-known for his roles as iconic villains in Punjabi movies. He is best known for his role as the antagonist in the critically acclaimed 2011 film Bol. Additionally, he appeared in the drama Khuda Aur Muhabbat in a supporting role. He last appeared in Bilal Lashari’s The Legend of Maula Jatt as Jeeva Natt.
