The Washington State Department of Health reported on Oct. 20 that four agricultural workers in Washington state may have Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI H5N1), more commonly known as bird flu.
The four people tried “possibly sure” for the illness subsequent to working with tainted poultry at a business egg ranch in Franklin Region, authorities said in an explanation.
The four possible infections represent the state’s first alleged human cases of the virus under investigation. If the infections are confirmed, Washington would join California, Colorado, Michigan, Missouri, and Texas as the sixth state to report human cases of the virus.

The four cases arose at a ranch that was the site of an avian flu episode in chickens recently, as per the Division of Wellbeing.
According to officials, on October 15, test results from the Washington State Department of Agriculture revealed that approximately 800,000 birds at the same farm were infected with the virus.
