ISLAMABAD: The secretary of irrigation for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has assumed the position of Irsa chairman until the appointment of a regular KP member, the Indus River System Authority announced on Friday.
The appointment of Engineer Sahibzada Muhammad Shabir, who was nominated by KP as its member on September 10, has been delayed by the federal government.
“Muhammad Ayaz, Secretary Water system Department, Legislature of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa/Member Irsa KP has accepted the charge of the workplace of Irsa executive with impact from Oct 18, 2024, till the arrangement of customary part KP,” said the notice gave by the controller.
Following the completion of Engineer Zahid Abbas’s four-year tenure, the position of KP’s Irsa member has been vacant since May 8.
