A day-long hearing was held by lawmakers on Wednesday, and the outcome was unexpected: a subpoena for Robert Roberson to testify before the committee, which was issued approximately 24 hours before the state of Texas was scheduled to execute Roberson.
In 2003, 57-year-old Roberson was found guilty of killing his 2-year-old daughter Nikki by shaking her to death. He was supposed to be put to death in Huntsville on Thursday evening through lethal injection.
