The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Tuesday that Pakistan and Russia have begun a joint military exercise with the codename Druzhba (Friendship) VII. This is the seventh bilateral joint counterterrorism exercise between the two militaries.
The drill is “aimed at refining professional skills through joint training, in addition to harnessing the historic military-to-military relations among friendly countries,” as stated by the military’s media wing.
The ISPR stated, “The two-week exercise commenced on October 13 at National Counter-Terrorism Centre, Pabbi, with the participation of Russian Military Contingent and Light Commando Troops of Pakistan Army.”
The statement says that the Commandant of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre was the chief guest at the exercise’s opening ceremony.
In 2021, the final military exercise, Druzbha VI, took place in the Molkino Trg area of Krasnodar, Russia.
In order to improve their combat readiness and identify issues with logistics, training, and current military doctrine, Pakistan’s armed forces regularly participate in joint military exercises with other nations.
