The dad of Sara Sharif, a 10-year-old young lady who was tracked down dead in her home in England, told police “I beat her up something over the top”, examiners said at his homicide preliminary on Monday.
After what prosecutors describe as a campaign of “serious and repeated violence,” Sharif’s body was discovered in her home in Woking, southwest of London, in August 2023.
Her dad Urfan Sharif, 42, his better half and Sara Sharif’s stepmother Beinash Batool, 30, and the young lady’s uncle Faisal Malik, 29, are being investigated at London’s Old Bailey court accused of her homicide.
The three are either accused of allowing or causing a child’s death. Every one of the three deny the charges against them and fault each other for her demise, examiners say.
On Monday, the first day of the trial, prosecutor Bill Emlyn Jones told the jurors that Urfan called British police after fleeing to Pakistan following Sara’s death.
“He utilized what you might believe is an odd articulation,” Emlyn Jones said. ” He stated, She was legally punished, and she passed away.
Jones said that Urfan likewise told police: ” I beaten her. Although I didn’t intend to kill her, I beat her up too much.
The prosecutor stated that a note written by Urfan was also discovered next to his daughter’s body. The note read: I declare to God that I did not intend to kill her. I just lost it.
Jones told the jury that Urfan, Batool, and Malik “played their part in the violence and mistreatment that resulted in Sara’s death” for themselves individually.
The three respondents all reject obligation for any of viciousness and misuse and each “looks to redirect the fault onto either of the others”, Jones said.
Jones stated that Urfan assigns blame to his wife Batool and that his alleged confessions to the police were intended to “protect the true guilty party.”
Batool argues that Urfan was a “violent disciplinarian” and that she was afraid of him, while Malik claims he was unaware of any abuse or violence, according to the prosecutor.
It is anticipated that the trial will last until December.
