QUETTA: After a delay of one and a half months due to the reconstruction of a terrorist-damaged bridge, the rail connection between Balochistan and the rest of the country was restored on Friday.
Since the bridge between the Kolpur and Dozan railway stations in the Bolan area was blown up in August by terrorists who had carried out coordinated attacks on civilians and government properties in several districts of Balochistan between August 25 and 26, killing 53 people, 14 of whom were security personnel, the rail link had been suspended.
The attack severed the rail connection that connected Balochistan to the rest of the country.
According to Imran Hayat, the divisional superintendent of Pakistan Railways, the Jaffar Express left Quetta on Friday for Peshawar with more than 300 passengers on board.
