After being accused of rape and sexual assault in an Australian court, British YouTuber and singer Yung Filly, whose real name is Andrés Felipe Valencia Barriento, was granted bail. The 29-year-old was accused of four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault that resulted in bodily harm, and one count of obstructing breathing. Following his performance at Bar120 nightclub on September 27, the alleged incident took place in a Perth hotel on September 28.
This week, Barriento was taken into custody in Brisbane and extradited to Perth, where he appeared in court. PA claims that during his Thursday appearance at Perth Magistrates Court, no pleas were entered. The YouTuber was granted bail with stringent conditions, including the payment of $100,000 AUD (£52,000) and a $100,000 USD (£52,000) surety.
According to Barriento’s attorney, he makes approximately £360,000 annually from his social media accounts on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, where he has over eight million followers. He is booked to show up for a committal notice on December 19, preceding entering a request.
The internet celebrity, who began his career on YouTube in 2013, also worked in music and appeared on shows like The Great Celebrity Bake Off. Additionally, he has collaborated with major corporations and clothing brands.
