The new selection committee will announce the Pakistani national team for the upcoming white-ball tour of Australia, which will be announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Former cricketers Azhar Ali and Aaqib Javed are likely to join the panel, according to sources. Both have indicated that they are willing to work together with the PCB on projects that go beyond team selection and aim to develop the squad’s young talent.
Aleem Dar, a former elite umpire for the International Cricket Council, is also expected to be appointed to the new committee.
This follows Mohammad Yousuf’s resignation as captain, which prompted the board to increase the size of the selection committee. Along with the head coach, Asad Shafiq will continue to be a selector, ensuring consistency within the committee.
Next week, the official roster for the white-ball series against Australia is expected to be announced. On October 29, Pakistan’s national team will depart for Sydney, where they will play three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 Internationals against Australia from November 4 to November 18.
