On the fourth day of the first Test match in Multan, England scored an incredible 823 runs, breaking the previous record for the highest innings total against Pakistan.
This remarkable feat marks only the second time in the history of cricket that a team has scored more than 700 runs in a Test match against Pakistan. The West Indies were the first team to do so, scoring 790 runs for three in 1958.
This milestone is especially significant because it is the first time a team has scored more than 800 runs in a Test match in the 21st century. Sri Lanka was the last team to accomplish this, scoring a staggering 952 for 6 against India in 1997.
England has scored 849 against the West Indies in 1930 and 903 against Australia in 1938, making it responsible for three of the four times in Test cricket history that a team has scored over 800 runs.
