At Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday, Karate champion Shahzaib Rindh received a check for Rs100 million for winning a global competition.
The Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter made history by becoming the first Pakistani-born world champion when he won the Karate Combat Championship (KC-49) in Singapore last month.
According to Karate Combat, which bills itself as the “world’s premier full contact striking league,” he defeated Brazil’s Bruno Roberto De Assis in the championship match.
The 26-year-old Balochistani said that his victory was a “dream come true” in a post on X that included a picture of him with the championship belt.
A few days later, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, provincial officials, and a large number of fans greeted Rindh with open arms at the Quetta airport.
According to a post on X by the president’s party, PPP, on Wednesday, the 26-year-old was praised by the president for elevating Pakistan’s name in karate and for his recent victory in Singapore.
The occasion was also attended by CM Bugti.
The president stated, “There is immense talent among the youth of Pakistan; there is a need to provide opportunities.”
He went on to say, “It is important to encourage the youth in the field of sports,” and he added that he wished Rindh continued success for Pakistan in the future.
