Peshawar: Orders have been issued to reduce fares for diesel-operated public transport in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to the transport department, fares for vehicles operating on various routes have been decreased by 2 to 14 rupees.
After the drop in diesel prices, public and goods transport fares in Punjab have also been reduced.
In Lahore, however, there was a 5% increase in intercity fares following the rise in diesel prices.
The transport department reported that the fare for a coach from Peshawar to Kohat is set at 170 rupees, while the fare for an AC bus is 183 rupees. For the route from Peshawar to Mardan, the coach fare is 151 rupees and the AC bus fare is 163 rupees.
Additionally, for the route from Peshawar to Chitral, the coach fare is 953 rupees and the AC bus fare is 1,026 rupees. The fare from Peshawar to Dera Ismail Khan is 835 rupees for a coach and 899 rupees for an AC bus, while the fare for the route from Peshawar to Abbottabad is set at 509 rupees for a coach and 548 rupees for an AC bus.
