Washington: Following the Israeli attack on Beirut, U.S. President Joe Biden has ordered American forces in the Middle East to be on high alert.
In a statement released by the White House, Biden directed the Pentagon to assess the positions of U.S. forces in the region and ensure they are ready to respond to any threats. The aim is to guarantee the safety of American military personnel and U.S. interests.
Additionally, President Biden instructed U.S. embassies in the region to implement security measures as deemed necessary. While at his beach house in Delaware, he received multiple briefings from his national security team regarding the situation in the Middle East. Earlier, Biden had stated that the U.S. had no prior knowledge of Israel’s actions and was not involved in the operations, adding that information was still being gathered on the evolving situation.
