In the wake of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah’s assassination, Iran has signaled its intention to send troops to Lebanon amid rising tensions in the region.
According to media reports, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for International Affairs, Mohammad Hassan Akhtari, suggested that preparations are underway to deploy Iranian forces to Lebanon and the Golan Heights.
He stated that Iran will soon begin public registration for sending troops in the coming days.
Furthermore, the Deputy Foreign Minister noted that Iran might send military units to Lebanon to combat occupying Zionists, reminiscent of their involvement in 1981.
This move by Iran comes immediately after the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah, in which senior resistance figure Ali Karaki was also killed in the Israeli attack.
