Tom Moffat, CEO of the World Cricketers’ Association, has stated that there have been no discussions regarding the formation of a players’ association in Pakistan. He emphasized that this decision should be made collaboratively by the players and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and they aim to support players in every possible way.
Recent reports indicate that Pakistani cricketers have expressed dissatisfaction with the PCB regarding the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for leagues. There is a noticeable lack of a representative organization for players in the country, as past efforts to establish one have failed. The World Cricketers’ Association has also left this matter to Pakistan to handle.
In an exclusive interview with Express News, Moffat shared that they maintain communication with various cricket stakeholders around the world, including international administrators. Their recent discussions with the PCB focused on potential collaboration and areas where they can work together.
Moffat reiterated that no talks have taken place regarding a players’ association in Pakistan and that it is ultimately a decision for the players and the PCB. He remarked on Pakistan’s significant cricketing history, stating their commitment to supporting players and promoting cricket whenever possible.
He also mentioned the longstanding positive relationship between the World Cricketers’ Association and the PCB regarding the Pakistan Super League (PSL), expressing hope for further strengthening these ties.
Moffat noted that Sana Mir is part of their board and highlighted ongoing communication with Apex Sports, led by Imran Ahmed Khan. Both have extensive experience in different fields, and they look forward to maintaining regular contact with the PCB and other key partners.
