NEW YORK: United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has stated in an interview with CNN that it is abundantly clear that neither side in the Gaza conflict is interested in a ceasefire.
Guterres described the situation as a significant tragedy, emphasizing that this war must come to an end, yet neither Israel nor Hamas appears willing to pursue a truce.
He expressed concern that the conflict is now expanding into Lebanon, jeopardizing peace in the region.
Guterres held both Israel and Hamas responsible for the failure to reach a ceasefire agreement despite numerous mediation efforts, stating that neither party is prepared to accept a ceasefire.
It is noteworthy that Israel has launched attacks first on Gaza, then on the West Bank, and now in Lebanon.
In today’s brutal bombardment in Lebanon, over 270 individuals have lost their lives, with more than 750 reported injured.
