ISLAMABAD: Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh has officially presented his Letter of Credence to US President Joseph R. Biden, marking his appointment as the 30th ambassador of Pakistan to the United States.
The ceremony took place at Blair House and was attended by members of the diplomatic community and senior officials from the US administration. In his remarks, Ambassador Sheikh conveyed greetings from the President, Prime Minister, and the people of Pakistan to their American counterparts.
He emphasized the long-standing cooperative relations between Pakistan and the United States, noting the foundations laid to strengthen bilateral ties. Reflecting on US assistance to Pakistan during its early statehood, the Ambassador highlighted ongoing investments in their relationship, particularly in areas such as climate change, energy, health, trade, and investment.
“Pakistan-US economic partnership is the core of our engagement, and the United States continues to be the largest destination for Pakistani exports,” Ambassador Sheikh stated. He pointed out the significant trade potential between the two nations, expressing Pakistan’s readiness to enhance trade and attract US investments in alternative energy, green technology, digital platforms, and higher education.
The Ambassador also acknowledged the important role of Pakistan’s vibrant diaspora in the US, describing them as a vital bridge between the two countries. He stressed the need for structured, broad-based dialogues in both security and non-security areas to invigorate the relationship and promote mutual interests.
President Biden welcomed Ambassador Sheikh back to Washington, D.C., noting the significance of his arrival. “It signifies more than 75 years of friendship between our nations and our enduring commitment to economic engagement, security cooperation, and cultural exchange,” the President remarked.
He added, “The enduring partnership between our nations remains critical to ensuring the security of our people and people around the world. The United States will continue to stand with Pakistan to tackle the most pressing global and regional challenges of our time.”
