John Legend extended his support to Taylor Swift after she faced criticism for endorsing Kamala Harris on social media. On September 11, Swift urged her fans to use their voting power in a heartfelt Instagram post, but her political stance drew backlash.
In an interview with *The Independent*, Legend acknowledged the challenges Swift faced in speaking out, saying, “It was always really difficult for Taylor to speak out for liberal and progressive candidates coming from the country music world, where the fanbase is a lot more conservative.” He added, “It was riskier for her to start speaking out about politics than it is for me. I always respected the fact that she was willing to take that risk.”
Meanwhile, Swift continues to thrive professionally, making history at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards by winning seven awards, surpassing Beyoncé’s previous record.
