King Charles’s office has seemingly reopened old wounds for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a new announcement concerning Frogmore Cottage, their former royal residence.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex faced another setback as Buckingham Palace advertised a key interior design position at the couple’s former UK home, appearing to add insult to injury.
In 2023, King Charles ordered Harry and Meghan to vacate the 10-bedroom property, located on the Windsor Estate, following the release of Harry’s memoir, *Spare*. The Sussexes had moved into Frogmore Cottage in April 2019 after it underwent extensive renovations costing taxpayers £2.4 million. Harry was required to return the keys to the property last year.
The renovation work on the residence included a new heating system, updated wiring, and other utilities, resulting in a “substantial overhaul.” Originally gifted to the Sussexes by the late Queen as a wedding present, Frogmore Cottage is now set to be rented out.
Buckingham Palace’s recent announcement encourages applicants to apply for a position as a Curtain Maker and Soft Furnishings Upholsterer. The year-long contract offers an annual salary of £28,000 and requires the chosen candidate to handle soft furnishings, window dressing schemes, and conservation tasks in line with the latest industry standards.
The news comes as a fresh blow to the California-based couple, who now have no residence in the UK after being asked to vacate their royal home.
