Taylor Swift was honored by London’s Wembley Stadium with a custom-made guitar after becoming the first artist to perform at the venue eight times in a single tour.
On Friday, August 23, Wembley announced the special gift on social media, celebrating Swift’s milestone achievement. The venue presented the 34-year-old pop star with a blue-and-black acoustic guitar, matching the stadium’s exterior colors, with the inscriptions “So Long, Taylor” and “It’s Been a Wembley Love Story,” paying tribute to her hits “Love Story” and “So Long, London.” The guitar was also engraved with the dates of each of her record-breaking shows.
A handwritten note was tucked between the guitar strings, expressing gratitude: “Thank you for eight unforgettable nights under the [Wembley] arch. You are now, officially, the biggest-selling female artist to ever perform at Wembley Stadium, and we think that is something to celebrate. We hope your very own Wembley Stadium guitar acts as a reminder of your record-breaking shows here in London. We would love you to come back soon.”
Swift’s eight performances at Wembley, part of her Eras Tour, ran from June to August, concluding on August 20. This feat shattered the previous record for the most sold-out stadium appearances in a single tour, a record held by Michael Jackson for thirty years until his death in 2009.
