Meghan Markle faced criticism following her and Prince Harry’s quasi-royal tour to Colombia, with a royal commentator accusing the Duchess of Sussex of exerting “control” over the media and making the trip about herself, despite her previous calls for “privacy.”
In an interview with *The Sun*, British journalist Robert Jobson pointed out the double standards of the Sussexes, who left the royal family in 2020, yet continue to organize tours resembling those of the Firm. Jobson remarked that Meghan received positive press during past royal tours, including visits to Tonga, Fiji, and South Africa.
He questioned why the former royals, who have asked for privacy and claimed they wanted to do things differently, are now behaving like royal figures. Jobson concluded by highlighting the contradiction in Meghan’s actions, asking, “What is the point of saying you want privacy and doing things in a different way, and then just being all about you, rather than, you know, doing it to help your country and serve?”
