Authorities recovered ten bodies, including that of an infant, after a boat carrying migrants capsized on the Drina River near the Serbia-Bosnia border on Thursday. The tragedy occurred close to Ljubovija, Serbia, a key transit point on the “Balkan route” used by migrants seeking to reach the EU.
Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic confirmed the recovery of the infant, approximately nine months old, along with the body of the child’s mother, who was previously found. Despite these discoveries, other individuals are still missing, according to Bosnia’s civil protection group. The nationalities of the victims have not yet been disclosed.
The incident was reported to Serbian border police early Thursday by Bosnian border authorities and a local resident, who informed them of the capsized vessel.
