Former President Donald Trump recently posted a fake image on social media depicting pop star Taylor Swift endorsing him for the November election. The image, shared on Truth Social, shows Swift in red, white, and blue with a caption saying, “Taylor Swift Wants You To Vote For Donald Trump.”
Swift, who has previously supported Democratic candidates including President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, has not publicly endorsed any candidate for the 2024 election. Her representatives have not responded to requests for comment.
In addition to the misleading image, Trump also shared photos of women in “Swifties for Trump” shirts and a satirical article headlined “Swifties Turning to Trump After ISIS Foiled Taylor Swift Concert.” The article was clearly marked as satire.
Several fans and watchdog groups have noted that many of the images Trump posted appear to be deepfakes created using artificial intelligence. Public Citizen criticized the use of such technology to spread misinformation, highlighting the potential risks to elections and public trust.
At the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Swift fan Rebecca Goff criticized Trump’s actions, stating that they contradict the values she believes Swift represents.
