HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Police are searching for a shooter who opened fire outside the AMC Willowbrook 24 movie theater on Tomball Parkway overnight.
According to Houston police, the incident began when a group of five people, who had just left the theater after a movie, realized one of them was missing a cellphone. As the group searched for the phone, tensions escalated and accusations started.
“There was a heated argument inside the theater, possibly over the missing phone,” Lt. R. Willkens said. “It turned out the phone was eventually found, so it seems no one had stolen it.”
Outside the theater, two men from the group confronted each other, leading to gunshots being fired. One man was shot at least once in the abdomen and was taken to the hospital for surgery, according to HPD.
The shooter and a woman fled the scene, but investigators have identified them. Police are asking them to come forward and provide their accounts of what happened.
