Javien Toviano, a sophomore cornerback at Louisiana State University, is facing charges after allegedly recording himself having sex with a woman without her consent. The 19-year-old from Arlington, Texas, turned himself in to authorities on Sunday, July 22, on charges of video voyeurism, according to the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office.
An arrest affidavit reveals that on July 8, a woman reported to detectives that she discovered unauthorized videos of her and Toviano on his iPad. These videos were recorded using a clock with a built-in camera, which had been placed near the bed on a dresser. The woman also claimed that Toviano had previously recorded them without her consent, despite her clear objections.
Initially hesitant to provide her phone as evidence or to pursue the investigation, the victim later returned to the sheriff’s office with Toviano’s iPad, laptop, and the clock with the hidden camera. She had attempted to confront Toviano about the videos, but he declined to speak with her.
During an interview with law enforcement, Toviano admitted to using the concealed camera to record their encounters without the woman’s permission.
Bond details have not been released, and it is unclear whether Toviano has legal representation. LSU has announced that Toviano has been suspended from all team activities in line with university policies. The university declined further comment to respect the ongoing legal process.
Toviano, who joined the LSU Tigers in 2023, played in every game during his freshman year, starting in the final five games. He recorded 33 tackles and one pass breakup. As LSU’s preseason practice begins on August 1, Toviano was expected to compete for a cornerback position.
