R&B singer Chris Brown, Dallas rapper Yella Beezy, Live Nation, and others are facing a lawsuit filed by four men who claim they were violently attacked and hospitalized following a concert in North Texas.
The civil lawsuit, filed in Houston on Monday, seeks $50 million in damages for monetary losses, pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, and medical expenses. Defendants include Brown, rapper Markies ‘Yella Beezy’ Conway, UK rapper Sinko Ceej, Omololu “Hood Boss” Akinlolu, as well as Live Nation Worldwide, Inc., and Live Nation Marketing, Inc.
The plaintiffs allege that Brown’s entourage assaulted Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush, and Damarcus Powell by “throwing chairs and repeatedly kicking, stomping, and beating them.”
The lawsuit claims that Live Nation was responsible for presenting and marketing Brown’s concert, and seeks to hold the singer, his promoters, and his entourage accountable for the incident.
According to the lawsuit, Parker, Lewis, Bush, and Powell attended the second night of Brown’s “11:11 Tour” at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth. After the concert, they, along with around 40 women, were invited backstage to Brown’s VIP area. Once there, the women were asked to turn in their phones before entering a room with Brown and his entourage.
Brown reportedly returned to the VIP area about 30 minutes later. As the plaintiffs prepared to leave, Bush approached Brown to shake his hand and congratulate him on the show. Brown allegedly acknowledged the greeting, but then someone from his entourage reminded him of a past dispute. Brown supposedly directed his crew to attack Bush.
The lawsuit claims that as the plaintiffs tried to leave, Brown and approximately seven to ten members of his entourage followed them and assaulted them in a hallway. Sinko Ceej is accused of punching Bush in the chest, while Akinlolu allegedly threw a chair at Bush’s head. Brown is said to have directed Conway and others to attack Parker.
The court documents state that Parker attempted to escape through a locked door at the bottom of a staircase but was severely beaten by Brown and his crew. Bush and Powell also reportedly suffered injuries from the assault.
The plaintiffs are receiving ongoing medical treatment for severe injuries to their heads, necks, shoulders, and backs. Their legal team, representing them through the Buzbee Law Firm, is seeking a jury trial and a temporary restraining order to preserve evidence.
The Fort Worth Police Department reported that Brown was not arrested in connection with the incident over the weekend, and it is unclear if any police reports have been filed.
