In Houston, Texas, a tragic incident unfolded on Friday evening, as a 34-year-old man lost his life in a shooting after reportedly being asked to leave a large gathering, as stated by the Houston Police Department.
The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Catherwood Place. According to HPD, around 8:45 p.m., officers responded to a residence hosting a gathering attended by approximately 20-30 individuals, including children.
Allegedly, a suspect in his mid-20s, heavily influenced by Xanax and alcohol, was among the attendees. When efforts were made to escort him out of the gathering, he reportedly became aggressive while awaiting his ride.
The situation escalated, leading to a confrontation between the suspect and three individuals in the middle of the street. The suspect then allegedly produced a pistol and discharged it multiple times.
Tragically, the victim sustained gunshot wounds to his torso, arm, leg, and hand. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries, as confirmed by police.
The suspect fled the scene on foot; however, HPD indicated they have leads on his identity and are actively pursuing him. Authorities suspect he resides in the vicinity of the incident.
