In southeast Houston along the Gulf Freeway near Monroe Road, a convenience store clerk was fatally shot during a robbery attempt, leading to a police search for three suspects who remain at large.
According to Houston police, the incident occurred around 12:34 a.m. Wednesday when one suspect posed as a customer while two others stormed into the store, with one of them firing a pistol multiple times. Despite the clerk being armed, it remains uncertain whether he was able to return fire. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the shooting, all three suspects fled to their vehicle and escaped. Fortunately, no customers were present in the store during the incident, although it remains unclear whether the suspects managed to steal anything.
This convenience store was the same location where a taco truck owner was fatally shot during a robbery altercation back in October 2023. During that incident, 29-year-old Roberto Almaguer Garza lost his life in a confrontation with two assailants attempting to rob him and his employees.
One of the suspects, 21-year-old Jimmie Wayne Daniels, was already wanted for multiple violent robberies at the time of his arrest. The other suspect, who was 17 years old at the time, is also in custody, facing charges of capital murder.
Additionally, three months ago on Christmas Eve, a fatal shooting occurred at a club in the same area, resulting in one fatality and three injuries. As of now, police have not provided updates regarding any arrests made in connection with that case.
