HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — The North Shore community is grieving the loss of one of its senior football players, who tragically lost his life over the weekend at a house party.
Jarvon Coles, a linebacker, was slated to graduate from North Shore High School in May and had plans to attend Lamar University, according to his family.
Coles was attending a house party on Saturday night on Fieldwick Lane, situated in a remote area of Humble.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call for a welfare check at the residence due to reports of underage drinking. Shortly after, another call came in reporting an unresponsive individual.
When paramedics arrived, they initiated CPR and discovered that Coles had sustained a gunshot wound.
“We believe at some point during the party, a car with multiple occupants drove by and fired several shots, striking our victim,” explained HCSO Sgt. Sidney Miller.
Investigators revisited the scene on Sunday and conducted a thorough search of the area for any surveillance footage that might provide leads on the perpetrator.
The property where the party occurred is a short-term rental. The homeowner of the residence on Fieldwick Lane revealed to over the phone that the house was rented by a mother intending to host a party for her son. The homeowner, expressing shock over the tragic turn of events, acknowledged the need to exercise greater caution in future rental arrangements.
Family and friends will gather for a balloon release ceremony in Coles’ honor on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Galena Park ISD football stadium.
Individuals with information pertinent to the investigation are urged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office at 713-274-9100.
