Four teenagers have been apprehended by the police for allegedly committing armed robberies at various businesses across the Houston area.
On January 6th, an individual, opting to remain anonymous, recounted his encounter while walking home from a bar in The Heights after his birthday celebration. He encountered three masked individuals shortly after they had reportedly robbed a Circle K on West 18th Street.
“As I’m approaching the corner, they come running around the gas station… suddenly, I get shot in the chest,” the individual recounted.
“I don’t believe they intended to shoot me. It seemed more like a reflex, like, ‘Oh no, there’s a guy right there,'” he added.
Tyree Maloid, 18, was taken into custody this week. According to the police, Maloid confessed to driving the robbery suspects to the Circle K and participating in two additional robberies that same night, including another Circle K on West 34th Street.
Many of the suspects are minors, with some just 17 years old. Some of them are also implicated in other robberies, including one at a Dollar General on Lee Road in the Humble area on January 17th.
On that day, Jermica Blunt recalled being at the register when two masked individuals stormed in with firearms.
“I felt like crying because that was the worst day of my life,” Blunt expressed.
Blunt recounted that one of the suspects pressed a gun against her back while another held one against her ribs.
“He whispered in my ear, saying things like, ‘I could take you from your family in the blink of an eye.’ That really shook me,” she recounted.
The other individuals involved in the robbery ring have been identified as Chamain Waldrup, 17; Cameron Levels.
