In Steubenville, Ohio, a woman has shared a remarkable story about her Stanley tumbler potentially saving her life during a frightening incident involving gunfire at her home.
In a video posted on TikTok, the woman recounted the harrowing experience where she and her fiancé were inside their house when they heard gunshots outside. Moments later, a stray bullet pierced through their home, but fortunately, it struck the Stanley cup positioned directly in front of her, causing it to ricochet away.
The woman’s TikTok video quickly gained traction on social media, with many expressing astonishment and disbelief at the story. Some even suggested that the cup should be preserved in a museum due to its role in saving her life.
While the incident may seem improbable, similar accounts of everyday objects deflecting bullets have been reported in the past. For instance, in 2015, a college student in California credited his iPhone for protecting him when a robber shot at him. The bullet struck the phone, becoming lodged in its metal casing and sparing the student from harm.
As for concerns raised earlier this year regarding the presence of lead in Stanley tumblers, the company clarified that a small button on the bottom of the tumblers contains a material with a significant lead content. This material is utilized during the vacuum insulation process, helping seal the tumbler’s insulation. However, accessing the lead pellet requires removing the stainless steel barrier, which is considered a rare occurrence.
While stories like these underscore the unpredictability of life-threatening situations, it’s crucial to prioritize safety and seek immediate assistance during emergencies, including gunfire incidents. Nonetheless, such anecdotes serve as poignant reminders that unexpected objects can sometimes play a critical role in life-saving scenarios.
