The Houston Police Officers’ Union (HPOU) has responded to the revelation that 10% of reports filed in the last eight years were left uninvestigated due to a lack of personnel and coding issues.
Ken Nealy, First Vice President of HPOU, emphasized their concern for the workload now placed on officers, stating that their primary focus is on the men and women of the police force.
Nealy acknowledged the unfortunate reality of a lack of personnel in many police departments nationwide and expressed hope for positive change with the allocation of resources for additional police academy classes.
The union aims to thoroughly investigate all cases despite the challenges posed by staffing issues.
