The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is currently underway, and we’re here to help you navigate the event without getting stuck in traffic.
With thousands of visitors flocking to the rodeo daily, one option is to utilize the METRORail Red Line for convenient curbside drop-off.
“We highly encourage people to take advantage of the METRO. It’s right here, and it’s only $1.25 each way,” remarked Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo spokesperson Danielle Grossman.
For those preferring to drive, on-site parking is available for $25. The 610 Lot now offers thousands of new spaces this season along with additional tram service.
Rideshare services can be accessed for pickups and drop-offs at the east end of Yellow Lot 35, with vehicles entering through Yellow Lot B from Main Street.
Public passenger drop-off is facilitated at Gate 9 off Kirby Drive. To access Gate 9, take Main Street to Westridge and head east.
Additionally, Park & Ride options allow you to leave your car near home and take a shuttle to NRG Park.
The RodeoHouston app has been updated for improved user experience. It provides access to grounds and concert tickets, carnival tickets, and detailed parking information, including real-time availability.
While parking can still be paid for with cash or card on-site, the option to prepay online is now available to streamline the process.
“Prepaying can alleviate the stress of searching for $25 in your car while en route to the rodeo,” Grossman noted. “We’re offering both options for now, but we’re hoping to transition to a cashless system eventually.”
Weekend rodeo shows will commence one hour earlier this season, and concerts are scheduled to conclude by 7 p.m., allowing attendees more time for rodeo activities before heading home.
“Staggered departure times will help prevent traffic congestion, ensuring a smoother exit for everyone,” Grossman added.
It’s essential to plan ahead, especially considering ongoing construction near NRG Park. Lane closures for a wastewater project on Murworth and Buffalo Speedway may disrupt traffic patterns, necessitating alternative routes.
“Advance planning is key to a stress-free experience,” Grossman emphasized.
